【摘要】:TheintentofthisguideistoidentifycharacteristicsthatanACSIDshallpossess.ItisnotexpectedthattheACSIDwillbeusedalonetoprovidetheentirescopeofrequiredimmobilization.Clinicalsituationsmayrequiredifferingcombinationsofdevicesforadequatetotalspinalimmobilization.AnACSIDmaybeoneofthedevices.AnACSIDisintendedtoprovidestabilizationand/orsupportinadditiontootherimmobilizationdevicesinoneormoreoftheplanesofmotionmentionedin3.2.1(see4.2).1.1Thisguideestablishesminimumstandardsfordevicesdesignatedhereasadjunctcervicalspineimmobilizationdevice(ACSID);alateralstabilizerfortheheadisanexampleofthistypeofdevice.TheACSIDisdesignedtobeusedtoassistintheimmobilizationofthecervicalspine,byemergencymedicalservicespersonnel.1.2ThisguidedoesnotidentifyspecificdegreesoflimitationofmotionachievedbyplacementofanACSIDonapatient.Definitiverequirementsforimmobilizationofthespine,and,inparticular,thedegreeoflimitationassociatedwiththeuseofanACSID,havenotbeenestablishedinthemedicalliterature.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
